We’re sure you already know how important reviews are within the Airbnb ecosystem. As a host, these can help you build your reputation, create trust, and lead to more bookings. However, these reviews work both ways. As hosts, we should also be responsible enough to leave reviews for the guests who stay within our rentals.

We know how tedious and time-consuming writing reviews can be. However, it’s something we must do to let other hosts and owners know great guests from the not-so-desirable ones. So, to help the hosts out there struggling to write reviews for their guests, here are 13 Airbnb host review templates you can use. These templates cover everything from excellent guests to decent ones to the downright bad ones.

Airbnb Host Review Templates

Leaving guest reviews goes hand-in-hand with receiving reviews for your rental. We all know how crucial securing 5-star reviews is for our rentals, so be sure to return the favor by leaving a thoughtful review for your guests.

Here are several templates for Airbnb host reviews that assist in offering guests fair, constructive, and thoughtful feedback. Feel free to use and tailor these templates to fit your experiences or circumstances.

Positive Reviews Template

These first set of templates are perfect for guests who were respectful, friendly, and were just overall great during their stay.

1. Exceptional Guest

"[Guest Name] was an exceptional guest! They were friendly, communicative, and treated my property with the utmost respect. The place was left spotless, and they followed all house rules. I would gladly host [Guest Name] again and highly recommend them to other hosts!"

2. Great Communication

"[Guest Name] was a pleasure to host. They communicated promptly and clearly, making the check-in and check-out process seamless. They left the space clean and tidy. I would happily host them again in the future!"

3. Perfect Fit for My Home

"Hosting [Guest Name] was a wonderful experience. They were courteous, respectful, and a perfect fit for my home. They adhered to all house rules and left the space immaculate. Highly recommended!"

4. Ideal for Long-Term Stay

"[Guest Name] stayed with us for [length of stay] and was a fantastic guest throughout. They kept the space clean, were respectful of the property, and communicated well. I’d love to host them again anytime."

5. Friendly and Respectful

"[Guest Name] was incredibly kind and respectful during their stay. They left the place in great condition and were easy to communicate with. Highly recommended to other hosts!"

Neutral Review Templates

There are times when the guests were just fine. They aren’t the friendliest nor the rudest bunch, and while there could’ve been an issue or two, it’s not something worth fighting over. If you’d still host them again despite the setbacks, these are the best set of reviews you can leave.

6. Decent Stay with Minor Issues

"[Guest Name] had a pleasant stay overall. While they were polite and communicative, there were minor issues with [specific issue, e.g., late check-out or minor cleanliness]. It’s something to consider, but I’d still host them again."

7. Could Improve on Cleanliness

"[Guest Name] was respectful and easy to communicate with, but the property was not left as clean as I would have expected. With a little more attention to cleaning, they would be a great guest."

8. Followed Most Rules

"[Guest Name] was generally a good guest and communicated well. However, there were some minor issues with following house rules, such as [specific rule]. I’d consider hosting them again with clearer expectations."

Negative Review Templates

Ideally, you’d probably wish that you never get the chance to use these reviews. However, you might encounter a terrible guests every so often; it happens to all rentals. We recommend always being honest and descriptive when it comes to writing these reviews for those pesky bad apples out there.

9. Disregarded House Rules

"Unfortunately, [Guest Name] did not follow the house rules, including [specific issue, e.g., bringing extra guests without permission, noise complaints]. Communication was also challenging. I recommend other hosts clarify rules upfront if hosting [Guest Name]."

How to Review Guests on Airbnb

We’ve left a handful of guest reviews for our 25-wide rental; you can say that we know a thing or two about leaving good reviews. If you prefer crafting your own review, here are a few tips we can provide about how to create the best Airbnb host review you can leave.

Reflect on the Guest’s Stay

The first thing you should do is try to retrace your steps and evaluate the guest’s behavior when they were renting your property. A couple of questions you can ask yourself can be:

  • Were they responsive to my messages?
  • Were they rude or friendly?
  • Did they leave the property clean and organized?
  • Did they break anything in the rental?
  • Did they take anything from the rental?
  • Did you receive any complaints from the neighbors?
  • Did they follow your house rules?
  • Did they arrive and leave on time?
  • Did they have any unreasonable requests?
  • Were they easy to host?

Once you answer these questions, you can quickly get a better understanding of how good they were as guests and what the overall tone of your review should be.

Be Honest yet Constructive

When writing your review, it’s important not to let your emotions get the best of you. If the guests were rude to you but didn’t have any other issues, don’t come at them with personal attacks. Instead, objectively list the issues you’ve had and how they treated your property. The only thing worse than not leaving a review is creating a fake one. Your review should always be truthful and focus only on the facts.

Provide Specific Details

Another rule we follow when writing Airbnb reviews is to provide specific details. Remember, the reviews you leave will be available to the public. Their main purpose is to inform other hosts what they can expect from each guest.

An example of this is instead of saying, “The guests left the rental clean.” You can mention, “the guests folded the bedding neatly, stored away the dishes, and placed all of the things where they found them.” The more details you can provide, the better you can paint a story for others.

Leave a Recommendation

Finally, we always recommend ending each review with a recommendation. For excellent guests, it could be something as simple as “I would gladly host them again." On the other hand, a comment like “I recommend clear communication when hosting them” can let others know that they need to be somewhat wary of the guest.

Wrapping Things Up

Overall, when leaving reviews, aim to be honest, professional, and constructive. Your feedback helps improve the Airbnb community and provides valuable information for other hosts. Before leaving reviews for your guests, make a great first impression with our Airbnb welcome message templates.
